Speaking and facilitation

Zakia went through seven entrepreneurship programs while building her businesses, and kept running into the same gap. The education ended and the operating didn't start. Nobody explained how to actually run the thing.

That gap is why Business Tech Lab exists, and it is what every one of these sessions is built around. Not what to buy. How to understand the business well enough to choose.

Session 1

It's Not an Effort Problem. It's a Structure Problem.

Why growth stalls when your website, social, email, payments and follow-up don't talk to each other — and how to tell which one to fix first.

Most small business owners are already working hard enough. What's missing isn't effort. It's the connection between pieces they already have. This session works through the four areas every business depends on: visibility, clarity, conversion and continuity. A business can have a website, a social account, an email list and a payment link and still lose customers in the gaps between them, and the fix is rarely the thing people ask for. Participants complete a short self-assessment during the session and leave knowing which of the four is weakest in their own business, and what to fix first.

Session 2

Teaching AI to Understand Your Business

Why AI gives you generic answers, and the one document that fixes it.

Most people jump straight to the tools and get results that sound like nobody. That is not a prompting failure. AI has no idea what your business does, who you serve, how you sound, or what you sell, and it cannot infer any of it. This session builds the document that supplies it: a written profile of the business that travels with you into any tool you use. Participants answer four questions about their own business during the session and leave with a starter profile rather than a list of software to go and try.

Session 3

Orientation Before Automation

Where AI helps, where it should wait, and how to tell the difference in your own business.

Most rooms want to know which AI tool to buy. This session argues the question arrives too early. "I tell 80% of my clients to wait" — not because the technology doesn't work, but because a business that can't describe how it currently operates will automate its confusion and pay monthly for the privilege. This is hands-on work, not a lecture: participants define at least two of their own critical workflows during the session and leave with a map of where AI can help them now and where it should wait until the process underneath it is defined.

Session 4

AI Informs Decisions. People Make Decisions.

A working position on AI in small businesses and the teams that serve them — not a tool list.

AI is arriving in small businesses and workforce programs faster than anyone is deciding how it should be used. This session offers a position rather than a demo: AI as translation, not delegation. It looks at where AI genuinely helps a person think, where it quietly replaces judgment that shouldn't be replaced, and what it takes to build an AI-enabled business without an AI-dependent owner. Built as much for organizations enabling their own teams as for the owners themselves.

The sequence

Orientation Before Automation is the no: most businesses should wait. Teaching AI to Understand Your Business is what they do instead of waiting. AI Informs Decisions. People Make Decisions. is the rule that holds once they start. And It's Not an Effort Problem is the same conviction applied to the systems they already own.

One argument, four rooms.

Thirty minutes to talk about your room.

Bring the date if you have one and the audience if you don't. We can work out the rest from there.

Or send a note first.

Tell us about the room.

Who will be there, what they are trying to do, and roughly when. That is usually enough to know whether this is a fit.
